This was the only way I could make my graphic organizer work since I could not copy and paste Inspiration into the Blog .

I see that students working with other students can lead to collaboration along with the students and instructor working together, which can build a community. The content is developed by the instructor to help lead the students to constructing their own ideas and learning with the instructor guiding the students on the side. By having the interaction between the students and the instructor then through communication then the online learning community can be built successfully.

Assessing Collaborative Efforts

Assessing participation in a collaborative learning community

There are several ways to assess participation in a collaborative learning community it can be by the students’ peers through discussions, by contributions to the activities that are assigned, through authentic assessment, and graded or marked assignments. I feel that the instructor should use all of the above methods of assessments to measure the learning of the students.

Collaboration of students

If a student does not want to network or collaborate with other students in the learning community then he or she should let the instructor know his or her issues with networking and collaborating then the instructor should work with the student to work out his concerns. If the other students know of the student’s concerns then they could encourage him or her to work with them. If the instructor can still assess the student’s work then he or she shouldn’t have a problem with his or her assessment plan. If communication is in place in the learning community then maybe collaboration can built in the learning community with the reluctant student.

Story Board

I will begin with an introduction, then I will have different clips of videos from both students, teachers, and others form Kaplan that run their on line high school program discussing online high schools and programs for high school students. The students will explain how the programs have helped them complete their high school education. The teachers will discuss what they have seen happen in the online high programs with different students. I will close the video by introducing the guest speaker for the online high school conference.
